Food Friday
In the 1930s, Herman Lay started a small potato chip business in Nashville, Tennessee. Lay purchased Atlanta's Barrett Food Company in 1938 and then formed H.W. Lay & Company. In the southern part of the united states he started selling his product out of the trunk of his car. Lays had many slogans like "so crisp you can hear the freshness" and "Betcha you can't just eat one." He ended up also renaming his company many times until he decided to keep it as Lays. In 1961 He merged the company with the fritos company at one point and the pepsico company. He then started to create different flavors of chips and wavy lays chips. In the 2000s He came out with the kettle cook version of the chip. Lays Chip company controlled over 59% of the United States snack food market.
Coca-Cola history began in 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, led him to create a distinctive tasting soft drink that could be sold at soda fountains. He created a flavored syrup, took it to his neighborhood pharmacy, where it was mixed with carbonated water and deemed “excellent” by those who sampled it. Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage “Coca‑Cola” as well as designing the trademarked, distinct script, still used today.
